The Holman Pirate Times, the student newspaper at Holman Middle School, was the top-scoring middle school student publication in the American Scholastic Press Association’s (ASPA) Scholastic Newspaper Awards for 2020. This is the fifth consecutive year that Holman topped this national list of award-winning middle schools in their category.

Holman earned first place in the Intermediate Schools (Enrollment 500-1,000) division for 2020. Reviewers judge each entry and award those that are an outstanding overall example of a scholastic publication in format, content and presentation.
