Pattonville School District was selected as the 2021 Dr. Gary VanMeter Award for Excellence in Risk Management recipient for the large enrollment category of Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) members. Pattonville was selected for its efforts in establishing a safe educational and work environment for its students and staff. The efforts and success in these areas demonstrate the excellence in risk management the organization encourages all of its members to pursue. 

The evaluation criteria utilized in the selection process included analysis of claims severity ratios, reduction in work comp severity, reduction in work comp indemnity frequency, training completions of staff, and participation in MUSIC Annual Membership Meeting and other safety training opportunities.

The award also includes a $1,000 contribution from MUSIC intended to support future safety and risk management initiatives. 

The MUSIC Program membership includes 482 Missouri public school districts, community colleges, and educational support organizations.
