First graders share their writing with kindergarteners

Kindergarten students in Ms. Tiffany Laughlin's class at Bridgeway Elementary listened to several published authors on Monday afternoon read their own story via Zoom and had the opportunity to ask questions after listening to each one. The authors were all first graders in Ms. Mallory Hamilton's Villemade first grade class at Parkwood Elementary. 

"My class shared the books they wrote that all had a book cover and title and included a beginning, middle and end," Hamilton said. "They did their own illustrations and learned about how real authors share their work with others."

Our transition to phase 1 (in-person five days a week) has been successful at early childhood through eighth grade and we are ready to move our Pattonville High School students to phase 1 on Monday, March 29.

Pattonville School District was selected as the 2021 Dr. Gary VanMeter Award for Excellence in Risk Management recipient for the large enrollment category of Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) members. Pattonville was selected for its efforts in establishing a safe educational and work environment for its students and staff. The efforts and success in these areas demonstrate the excellence in risk management the organization encourages all of its members to pursue.

Students fundraise with participation in Read-A-Thon

Today is Read Across America Day and every student in Ms. Mary Florence Goding’s first grade class spent 20 minutes reading a book. That time could be worth a lot of money. 

The Willow Brook Read-A-Thon is an engaging and educational fundraiser organized by the school’s PTO. Students are raising money by challenging themselves to read as much as possible.

High school students can attend college fairs through a virtual experience

Students, families, and counselors are invited to virtually connect with over 120 post-secondary options from around the world for free during Missouri’s Show-Me Virtual College Fair on March 10. 

The Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC) offers opportunities for high school students and potential transfer students and their families to learn more about their post-secondary options through Show-Me Virtual College Fairs.
